Tapetown / Production case study

SPOT Festival stages: production with young organisers

At FO-byen, Lydhavnen and Aarhus Bowlinghal, Tapetown worked with Roskilde Festival Højskole and local partners on stages, concerts and filmed sessions during SPOT Festival. Young organisers helped shape and deliver the events, combining practical responsibility with production support from the collaborators and bringing their own ideas into each setting.

Three settings for live concerts and filmed sessions

At FO-byen, the collaboration created a stage for Sauna Senere and Joe & the Shitboys, with the performances captured for Tapetown Sessions. Frontløberne joined Tapetown and the school for a Lydhavnen dayparty around HIRAKI and Mary Anne’s Polar Rig live sessions.

Another production brought the stage into Aarhus Bowlinghal with Commotion, Escho and Roskilde Festival Højskole. SPOT’s account describes the combination of concerts, filming and a bowling-hall setting. The partners and production format developed with each location.

Students with responsibility for a real event

Roskilde Festival Højskole’s account of the Lydhavnen dayparty describes students working on booking, logistics, communications, PR and the bar, with room to develop their own event concept. The school also credits its film students for the day’s aftermovie.

This series brings youth participation into the work of producing a public event. For a similar collaboration, discuss which decisions young organisers will own, the support around them and the stage, sound and filming responsibilities. Those agreements give both the learning programme and the live production a practical basis.
